Our Philosophy

At Amity Hospice, we believe that the sacred space of living and dying is one of our most profound human experiences. It is a time marked by physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, social, and cultural transitions and it deserves care that honors every dimension of that journey.

Our philosophy is rooted in providing excellent, individualized care that reflects the expressed needs of each patient and family. No two journeys are the same. While end-of-life experiences share common themes, we recognize that every patient and caregiver faces unique circumstances. Our role is to listen deeply, assess thoughtfully, and guide each family with compassion, honesty, and integrity.

From the first phone call through the final days and into a full year of grief and bereavement support, we walk alongside families. When a family comes under the care of Amity Hospice, they become one of ours and that connection does not end.

Through a team-based, holistic approach, we support, educate, and encourage families so that the end-of-life experience can be embraced with dignity, comfort, and meaning.

Our Founding

Founded in 2011, Amity Hospice was created in response to a growing need for compassionate, community-centered hospice care in North Texas. At that time, much of the hospice care in the region was being provided by large, multi-state corporations. From the beginning, our belief has been that hospice care is most effective when it is locally owned, locally managed, and deeply connected to the community it serves.

At Amity Hospice, our mission is to provide individualized care tailored to the unique needs of each patient and their family — never a “cookie-cutter” approach. Because we are completely local, we are able to build strong partnerships with community resources, maintain close relationships with referring physicians and facilities, and respond quickly to changes in our patients’ conditions and needs.

Our interdisciplinary care team takes pride in providing coordinated, compassionate support for both patients and families. We proactively anticipate medical and social challenges, listen carefully to concerns, collaborate as a team, and respond with thoughtful, personalized care every step of the way.
